Review is based on a wedding reception I attended over the weekend. Really nice reception. 1) Good food 2) Great Beer 3) Great service and decor 1) I had a filet mignon and my wife had a crab cake. The food was excellent. Food was served hot and really tasty. 2) The beers are excellent. Seasonal and fresh, we had a great selection. I had the Hefewezen all night. 3) The staff were friendly and active. The beer garden in the back is lush and comfortable and perfect for an evening out. The building is historic, and the catacombs are pretty cool to explore. We had a really nice time. I would go back on my own next time I'm in the area.

We had dinner reservations in the Catacombs for 7:15 on a Monday night. We got there early, and had to wait about 20 minutes in the lobby for the host to return from giving a tour until he could take us down. It wasn't so bad of a wait, the workers constantly asked if we were okay and let us know that the host was on his way. It was nice how attentive they were. However, the lobby was very hot and humid with a couple of flies buzzing around. They do have an outdoor restaurant so that was understandable. Even though the wait felt like it took forever, the host was ready for us at 7:14 so he was totally on time. When you eat in the Catacombs, you get a small tour of the building before you are seated. Our hosts name was Richard and he was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and excited to do his job. The tour wasn't too long or too short. We were then seated at our table and waited for our waiter Brandon to take our orders. He came over in a couple minutes with a free pretzel appetizer and took our drink orders. We knew what we wanted so he took those orders too, which was nice. After we got our drinks, we were served a house salad and bread. This was nice but by this time we just wanted our food. By 8:00, we were served the appetizers we ordered. The shrimp cocktail was really good but the red pepper and corn bisque was a little cold and also a bit nasty. We didn't get our actual dinner until around 8:30. We were getting so impatient, also because it was so humid down in the Catacombs. It wasn't unbearable. But it was uncomfortable. We weren't sure why the service was so slow, as there was only two other tables with people in the Catacombs. I don't know if the Bottling Works pub was busy, so maybe that's why. The slow service was not Brandon's fault at all. He was an excellent waiter. I ordered the Spicy Seafood Pauline. It was warm, not hot. The seafood was all cooked great and the sauce was the best part. It was served with green beans which were very tasty. I wished that my portion was bigger; the rest of the party got steaks and their plates seemed much more filled with food than mine. We didn't order dessert because at this point it's 9:00 and we were just ready to leave. The Catacombs had a very cool atmosphere, but if I return I think I would rather eat in the BottlingWorks pub just due to the super slow service and humidity.

Tried to go again, the wait line was too long... Apparently the cockroaches have placed reservations for all the tables, because this place is CLOSED due to health code violations. This is an actual customer experience AND a matter of public record. So whoever keeps flagging these reviews having Yelp pull them down *cough* Bubes *cough* CLEAN YOUR KITCHEN.

Bube's (pronounced "Boo-bees") is one of the few attractions in Mount Joy so if you're in the area looking for something to do, you might as well stop by for a visit. We went during lunch, when the catacombs weren't yet open. Lunch at Bube's is when you'll see mostly locals. I'm told that the tourists all come at night for dinner in the catacombs and for tours of the brewery. From what I recall, the food was decently good (ie. delicious when you're famished but only 'ok' when you're not). The dish I order when first visiting any pub is usually Fish and Chips and my visit to Bube's was no different. My bf ordered a cheese steak and wings, and his mom ordered (I think) a crabmeat sandwich. The cheese steak was pretty good but nothing spectacular. My fish and chips passed the test of flakiness and crispiness, but was lacking in the flavor department. Overall, nothing really stood out to me. Nothing was egregiously bad but nothing was unforgettably good either. My bf also ordered a flight of seasonal beers to try with his mom. I'm no beer expert (in fact, I really don't drink at all) but in the words of my bf, the beers were very "meh." Granted, the service was super friendly and the atmosphere is unique (it is a small town beer brewery after all!), but as far as food goes, there's much better stuff around. Food: 3/5 -- Not terrible, but not really all that good either. Just so-so. Service: 4/5 -- Super friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Atmosphere: 3.5/5 -- It's unique... The catacombs are really cool but the upstairs are a bit dingy and old. Then again, it's an old brewery. Overall: 3/5 -- Decent. Food is good if you're starving. Venue is interesting if you're looking for something to do in an otherwise desolate town.

Bube's is great. They have just the right number of cockroaches. Not so many so as to overpower your food but not so few that you don't notice the taste of their fecal matter. pennlive.com/midstate/in…

I was interested in trying Bube's despite the poor reviews. I told myself I was only going to try the beer. Quick stop. Well the stop could not have been quicker as on the day of our stop Bube's was closed. As in shut down by the health department. See photo attached for more info. They have apparently reopened since.

This place has so much character! What a local gem!!! I have attended both a murder mystery and a feast; both were fun and memorable experiences! The staff are very personable. The actors are excellent and very interactive! Never a dull moment! Outstanding entertainment for a night out! Totally worth every penny! I have not been to a karaoke night or live music night in the Bottling Works Tavern (yet). Nor have I had dinner in the catacombs (yet)....But I feel confident based on my other expieriences here, that any event at Bube's will be great!

What a great experience on their beautiful patio! Beer was delicious, and has come a long way since the new brewer first started. Service was excellent. Hostess was professional and warm, and our server was authentic and exceptional. We can't wait to go back and see what's on tap next!

The good news is that Bube's could be amazing, but our evening was marred with rude wait staff, and an amazingly stupid theme dinner. Our evening started at the bar outside, where the bartender was rude, and simply not focused on any of the drinks people wanted. We arrived at 6pm and they were already out of some of their "signature" drinks. When we asked for alternatives he pointed at the list and walked away. The lady next to us got a drink from the list, and when he brought it to her, he stated, that it wasn't his best effort and walked away. My wife who doesn't drink beer asked for his opinion on the Cider, he openly said, he didn't drink Cider's and recommended a stout. We only went there for the Ceaser themed dinner in the catacombs. I can't begin to describe how tacky this was. Poorly constructed costumes to start, but it took 30 minutes just to get the crappy watered-down sangria. Seriously tasted like Fruit Punch. Then over an hour for the salad. The main meal consisted of overcooked mystery meat, with undercooked gravy, that was more like vinegar with a few tomatoes in it. Apparently everyone thought it was great that you could get a massage during dinner from the entertainers, but seriously who wants to watch that while you are eating? The entertainment was terrible, the food would gag most maggots, and they put the entire group in a room, that heated up to a very uncomfortable temp so that everyone was sweaty and smelly. Don't waste your time or money.

We signed up for the $50 Murder Mystery at the Alois restaurant. Upon entering the main entrance, there was no hostess or anyone to greet us. There was a crowd of people asking about the catacombs, another group about asking where the bar was, and another group asking about the Murder Mystery night. We slipped into a couple of seats at the bar areas and ordered some of the house brews- I have to say great stuff. The lobby crowd ebbed and was sorted out over the course of the next 20 minutes- but for awhile there- a free-for-all. We went outside and waited in line for access to the Alois restaurant section of Bube's. After being greeted by one of the actors of the night, we made our way into the bar area, where the appetizers were of the Sysco variety. If you've been to a luncheon at your local community college, you'll get the same salty spinach dip and doughy bread. We were seated in a dimly lit dinning area- long tables with not a lot of room between our neighbors- lots of bumping elbows. The "show" started, a murder-mystery about a booze runner out of Philly and a whodunit when the murder was committed. The actors where really trying to jazz the crowd, but after being served limp bib lettuce and tomato salad with a cold clam chowder we reserved to just chat among ourselves. The final shot was the diner- family style- some dry chicken or beef. That was it. I sampled both, but having to choke it down while the actors tried to razz us up to solve the mystery was hard to swallow all together. The HIGHLIGHT of the evening was the tour that was lead by one of the actor's of Bube's Brewery. A really amazing site- one of the original sites of Pilsner beers- learning the Bube was among Adolph Coors and David Jüngling (Yuengling). The actor showed us through the caves that they cooled the beers and how they were built. He took us through the catacombs where the beer was cooled, and how it was hauled to the nearest towns. The $50 didn't go to the Murder Mystery- It went to the tour. Bube's Brewery should focus more on the history and showing how the beer was/is made. That's where the real attraction is.

I have been here several times over the course of many years. If you are looking for a casual hangout with friends or a low-key place to hear local music, this is the place for you. The interior is dark and authentic. The food has always placed second fiddle to the bar. My soup came out at the same time as my steak and was rather bland. The Pub Steak was cooked to perfection and very tasty. Be careful with salads. They always put on too much and they often over-power the salad. I always ask for it on the side. The deserts are tiny, so don't plan on sharing. Also, don't sit at any table near the stage. You will get an unpleasant whiff of the bathrooms as patrons open those doors.

Horribly slow service, the food was almost inedible. In addition it took 2 hours to get our meals, and the place wasn't even busy at all.

This place has gone downhill fast. Here I am, 9:30 at the bar...and it is QUIET. I should've brought a book. Also I saw the bartender fix her hair and then immediately put the clean dishes away- touching the inside of the glasses. Please, please, train them how to handle food safely. I used to love this place...

Food was good, little on the pricey side especially for children's menus. Beers were descent, flight price was great. Atmosphere is a little dark. Tables wobbling. We tried to eat outside but the flies were just unbearable. Even the women restroom had a sworn of flies in there.

I was so excited to try Bube's brewery. I drove down from Harrisburg with my husband. Walked in to the museum area which was so neat!! Was seated in the bar area by the host. A Saturday at 1:30 with less than a quarter of the tables filled. We waited 25 minutes prior to walking out. No one even acknowledged us. So disappointed to drive 45 minutes. Wait another 25 and still be hungry. Not even a drink order. Total let down.

Ever--after wating roughly 45 minutes--get your grilled cheese sandwich (aka their "Ultimate Grilled Cheese")... and find that the cook FORGOT TO GRILL ONE SIDE of it? You can count on that sort of special service/culinary delight here! (I kid you not!). Unfortunately, this type of experience is far from uncommon. I could go on. Their wings are good, usually. Fish tacos--hit or miss. Thankful I haven't attended pricier events. Been there many times, but less and less over time. As of now, too many other options, and no plans to ever return. Decent beer selection, and house brews there are sometimes tasty. Servers typically overwhelmed, but do their best. The kitchen should get it together--hiring some REAL chefs and cooks would be a step in the right direction. Owner/mgr--whoever he is--needs to fix the obvious problems with kitchen. He was full of excuses when he came to our table about the *almost* hilarious (not) grilled cheese. Doesn't cut it. Didn't want to order any different culinary delight (and endure another long wait), so kept the half-grilled cheese, which remained on our bill. AND please--clean the GROSS, smelly restrooms. Cool atmosphere, great history. Too bad the managemnt wastes it. (Alois is probably rolling in his grave...) "Bubes"--I pronounce it BOOBS (as in "dumbasses"). It fits.

My mom and I were very excited to check out Bube's brewery today. She found a LivingSocial "deal" for the brewery tour for 2 people for $10. Don't bother with the "deal" as we learned the regular price of the tour is $5 per person. The building is awesome from the outside and we had high hopes upon entering. Unfortunately, that was soon shadowed by the lack of staff presence or a simple greeting at the door. We stood in the entry way for a little while, and eventually saw some staff movement in the bar. Previous reviewers had noted that the staff appeared to avoid eye contact and that could not be more true; three employees pretended we were not there. My mom finally had to go into the bar area to tell a waitress we were there for the tour. The tour was pretty neat and our guide seemed very knowledgeable on the establishment. That is why this place even gets a single star. After the tour, my mom and I went outside to the Biergarten (which is a really beautiful area!) to sit at the bar and share a flight of the four Bube's beers. Since you do not get any samples, we decided to try them all to see which one we would each order a pint of. Our favorite was the vanilla cream ale.. The others were lackluster and pretty warm. We were also planning on ordering an appetizer or two, so after our flight was delivered we asked our bartender if he could give us another minute to decide. He shook his head back and forth as if to say "no" and we both laughed it off thinking he was just being funny. Turns out, he WASN'T kidding and never came back to us!!! In the 20-25 minutes we waited for him to appear, we decided that we no longer wanted to order a drink or food from that place. We simply wanted him to appear so we could ask for our bill, but again he never came back to us. We snagged another waitress to ask her how much the flights were ($5) and left $6 on the outside bar. We left feeling VERY disgusted with this place. The name [Bube's] fits perfectly; the staff is a bunch of boobs. Such a shame, SO much wasted potential. The BEST decision we made was to drive 15 minutes away to the Lancaster Brewing Company in downtown Lancaster!! Seated immediately, friendly staff, fast service, and awesome food and beer! You will NOT regret it!

Terrible Food, Fly-ridden, lackluster service. Ordered fries and wings, they wouldn't let us choose 2 sauces. Flies were unbearable inside the restaurant. Wings came out overcooked on the outside and red on the inside with a pre-filled cup of sauce. Fries were soggy and flavorless. Thankfully, we got the food for free since we ate about 5 bites before leaving.

Should be zero stars here as we NEVER were even offered service - we watched the bartender crack jokes about leaving in three minutes - waitresses non existent and when they showed up, they were pros at avoiding eye contact. Very dark - actually I tripped on an invisible (because it was so dark) step... And I was looking forward to checking out this place - had heard lots about it... Too bad I have no desire to return.....

Have been twice. Had dinner in the catacombs both times. Really cool atmosphere. Everything else...terrible. First meal there was just ok. Figured we would give them another shot...what a mistake. Terrible service (drinks sat empty for 30 minutes without seeing the server), way over cooked steak. Asked for manager, was told he wasn't even there. Never going back to this terrible place!

Okay, where to start? Luckily my boyfriend and I had a gift card or else I would have never came. It's $45 per person to attend this "feast" in the catacombs. This was around Halloween and they were doing a special (I think) where they dress up as Vampires and play in Halloween theme. Let's start from the beginning. If I'm brutally honest, sorry not sorry. No parking lot, you must park on the street. If it's packed - good luck because you'll be walking blocks away. You'll be parking in front of people's houses on side streets. It's sort of ridiculous. We went in costume because that's what they told us on the phone. Don't forget your costume! Oh, and once you book your visit, you're set. You better not get sick or have an emergency because that money is going right down the drain. They. Don't. Care. We walk in and it's crowded. You can't even move! We're all standing in front of the lobby waiting to be called by party to head down to The Catacombs. Eventually my party was called, we headed down the stairs and make sure if you can't see well, or you don't have a good balance you watch when you're walking down. The stairwell is NOT a safe walk. It's very small steps, half of my foot could probably fit on the stairs and it looks as though it's made of rock. They did have non-slip strips on each step, but it still is very unsafe - especially someone who is intoxicated. They should fix that before someone sues them. But that's just my opinion! So now we're seated at the table. The actors and actresses were great, they did a wonderful job entertaining everyone. I had went to an Adult Show. They are very touchy-feely with their guests, so make sure if you don't like that - don't bother coming. I don't remember correctly, so forgive me if I'm wrong. But I believe it was a 6-course meal. Bread was first, I believe the half-pitcher of chosen drink was a part of it, another bread, salad, our meal, then dessert. Now let me say, when I hear feast - my expectations are very high for food. When I have to unbuckle my jeans, can't even move and go right to sleep, then I know I had a feast. Their portions were SO SMALL. What they don't tell you, you're going to be splitting the bread, salad, and pitcher with your party. Our salad was so disgusting we couldn't even eat it. And that was split between 6 people. It was so strong of onion we couldn't eat it. Don't get me wrong, I love onion - they just went overload on it. So if you hate onions, make sure you let them know beforehand. For the meal, we get up out the seat by table. We walk in a line like a buffet while they slap our plate with food. Then walk back into our seat and eat. The food was okay. Mashed potatoes, gravy, meat. I don't see anything special about it. Typical "Pennsylvania" food. So I'm sure it's safe to say you're paying for the entertainment. And when you leave, they'll sit out in the lobby and keep acting with hats in their hand for you to toss them even more cash. That's crazy. I just wasted $90 on two people for nothing. You're so uncomfortable sitting at long tables with 29 other people, scrunched up by each other. Make sure you check your BO before you leave the house or you'll have an angry neighbor. The bathrooms are something I always pick on, too. There were two different bathrooms we could use. One in the bar area and one right off the lobby, too small and not very well cleaned. Would I ever come here again? Absolutely not. It was just such a waste of money.

So much potential, so little delivered. Great location, lots of interesting stuff when you walk in.....And then that's about it!!! Called to check for a wait time, and they said it was walk in with now wait. Great!! Jumped in the car and got there about 20 minutes later, hard to find a parking, started to worry....Opened the door and people standing all over....NOT GOOD!!! Checked in at the front desk and was told 20-30 min wait MAX. Ok, went to bar, waited 10 min to get a beer at a bar that wasn't terribly busy. Had the beer, wasn't a fan of any of the house beers. Tried a second beer and still no seat, lady came and said 5 more min. About 20 min later we were getting table. Didn't get any better after that. Waitress came and took orders, they were out of soup, didn't have Quiche and said the menu was outdated. We all ordered, my wife and her friend ordered the rice and beans....Which 20 minutes after our orders were put in, she came back to let us know they didn't have....So.....it took 20 min to find this out???? And that means all of our foods had to sit in a warmer, which is what the food tasted like. My fries were soggy and warm, but not hot. I got the Ultimate Grill Cheese, which was Texas toast, a stuffing crab cake (more stuffing than crab) and white cheese. Bread was not crisp, again warm not hot. Everyone else at the table had the same results on fish and chips, which have to be hot and crisp to taste good!! By this point, I was just ready to leave, even though some desserts looked appetizing, I couldn't justify spending more money at this place!! On the way out, some people were standing around, and didn't look happy, I let them know it wasn't getting any better, especially considering there were open tables all over and they had been waiting there 10 min!! That's unacceptable!! They walked out right behind us.

Bube's was so creepy and fantastic. I believe it's the second oldest brewery in the country although it's no longer functioning. It' holds a ton of history and also ghosts apparently. We came in late at night but the bar tender was happy to tell us some stories and share what details she could about the Ghost Hunters episode that was filmed there. I had a really enjoyable experience here on the patio with great company and cold beers. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

I've only been here twice but you gotta check this place out. While the beers were better on the 1st visit this is still a very cool and historical place. The beers were just O.K this time 'round. They do have other besides Bube's on tap. The Biergarten is a nice outside place to chill in the summer. There is an artifact that has been there since the 19th century. I believe it was used to roast malt. The whole building has a great history. Wished I could have seen the catacombs, but they were closed both times I was there. They have live music on weekends and I bet it gets pretty crowded. All in all I would recommend as part of a Lancaster Co. beer trek. At least once.

Not good. Flat out. Terrible experience. I've been here several times Catacombs, good. Bottling works was just terrible tonight. Horrible table service, horrible food, terrible wait for food. When a 10 year old says "40 minutes for a grilled cheese", it's not a good sign. Several menu items not available. :(

About 12 of us came here for dinner on Friday, May 1. Our reservation was for 8:30pm followed by their Ghost Tour at 10pm. I went into this with an open mind because I had read so many bad reviews of this place. Luckily, my experience here was pretty good. If we could give half-stars, I would have rated this 3.5 stars. The place gets 5 stars for total coolness and sort of creepy ambiance when dining down in the Catacombs portion of this restaurant/brewery. Very cool! The servers were very attentive and friendly. However, this place is so big, that the service tends to be a little slow. Which a lot of folks complained about. I knew what to expect ahead of time, so it really didn't bother me much. The Catacombs are located 43 feet below street level and there are tons of stairs in this building, so the servers literally have to go up and down the stairs or send their "runners" to get drinks, food, etc. You have to understand to know this all takes TIME! On the way to our seating, we rec'd a quick tour of the brewery and we were told some interesting facts and history about the place. Unfortunately, our guide was not dressed in period clothing (as specified on their website) and he had a speech impediment that made him difficult to understand. The food was very good and expertly prepared. However, the menu prices are very expensive. Prices on the Catacombs menu range from $22 - $45. They have a great selection of craft beers and we all pretty much ordered something different from the menu and everyone was very pleased with their orders. They even provide you with a free appetizer for the table. It's their signature pretzels and some sort of buttery/cheesey/ranch type dip (couldn't quite identify the flavor and they wouldn't tell...hahaha) but you can't beat FREE! Because the service was slow, dinner ran late. We didn't finish until 10:10 but they did hold up the Ghost Tour just for our group (which I'm sure angered the other participants..but we were thankful). The Ghost Tour was only $5 ($10 if you're not dining there). It was awesome getting to see the entire building. Again though...there were soooo many stairs to climb. No elevator that I know of in this building. Our guide was an employee who had been there for many years. Either he was tired, or we were tired, or he just wasn't a very good story-teller because honestly, he lost me about halfway through the tour. My mind wandered off and I just started snapping pictures...hoping maybe to catch something. Other than a few weird light anomalies and orbs (or bugs/dust), I didn't catch any ghosts. His stories weren't really that interesting. With Syfy channel's Ghost Hunters's being there before, it would have been nice if they had shared with us the what type of activity happened in each room. Any EVP's they captured, or other evidence. He didn't share any of that information. He didn't share any personal experiences he had there (guess he didn't have any) but did share a few personal stories from OTHER people that work there. The Ghost Tour was worth the $5, but honestly, it's basically a more detailed tour of the building and certainly not worth the $10 they charge if you don't dine there. I would love to go back and stay in one of their newly renovated hotel rooms on the top floor. And also dine in the Bottle Works Restaurant where they have a more traditional bar/tavern type menu. I hear they have a great Ultimate Grilled Cheese sandwich that I'm dying to try! If you go there, let me know what you think. Thanks for reading my review.

Everything about this experience was great. My boyfriend and I dined down in the catacombs. I have to say that is definitely an experience worth having. You get a tour from the host/hostess on the way down. Our host was really into his job so it made the tour enjoyable. The experience only got better from here. Our server was professional and clearly well trained to do his job. He knew everything from the beers to the food. Definitely impressed. The best part was the food. I read some reviews and it's crazy the bad reviews the food is getting here. I see they're mostly about the bar area which is separate from the catacombs. I assure you the food in the catacombs is delicious. It's a fine dining experience. Expect to pay a little bit more. It's well worth it. Overall amazing experience. I definitely want to come back for the Halloween party or a murder mystery!

Such an awesome experience! The outdoor bar is very neat, but the catacombs restaurant is where it's at. We had a very informative tour before being seated for our dinner. The food was delicious and our waiter, Brandon was excellent! Will be going back.

Bar was alright. Server messed up one of the orders from our party and was a complete dick about it. Took forever to get seated and a served as well. Beers were mediocre. Cool building, though.

The beers that they make there are really good. The service at the bar was terrible. There were two bartenders on and myself and my friend sitting there. They repeatedly walked by without acknowledging us as we said, "Excuse me!" The tour was cool and the man who gave it was a riot. The food was chain restaurant quality at best and was very expensive. We also noticed that a lot of the dinner menu items were the same as the bar menu items but a few bucks more. Our server in the catacombs was fast and friendly. The atmosphere was really different and had so much more potential. It wasn't bad, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed. The owner is clearly more concerned with using a gimmick to funnel people through and make as much money as possible than with providing an authentic experience that will draw repeat customers.

It was cool eating in the catacomb area, however the food was very mediocre. The filet was not good quality and lacked flavor. Service was good, but the food was just disappointing. ALSO -- we were very concerned about being dressed appropriately since it is listed as "fine dining" I even called to see exactly what attire was appropriate... Once we were seated it was very obvious we were over dressed compared to the couples in flip flops, shorts and t shirts.

Great setting...everything else is completely lacking. We've lived in the area 20 years so it's not an isolated experience driving this review. Also, we are reviewing the bar and outdoor dining, not the catacombs that have been rightfully beaten to death. But the food and drink comes from the same kitchen and bar. The place was empty on a Thursday night with only a half dozen of the 20 or 30 tables filled. Service was quick and personal with just some minor oversights that don't warrant a one star rating (i.e. forgot water, salad dressing but no biggie). This is a brewery. They don't have beer. Let that sink in for a moment....brewery, no beer. The story given was they got a new Brew master (asked where he came from and got "he's well renowned") and there's a "regional shortage of hops". Googling that revealed that a handful of specialty hops associated with the citrus-y IPA's are in short supply but the standard hops needed for your other beers are readily available to every other brewpub I've visited in the past month. When we asked what happened to the beer that the last brew master made we were told "it got drunk". Without their own beers we opted for cocktails. The bartender is likely good at pouring beers. His/her skills are not well honed in the art of mixology (not that a martini is the height of mixing a complicated drink, either). Now, the food. The appetizer was very nice...Mediterranean tortillas with feta, olives, capers and roasted red peppers was quickly devoured and enjoyed. My salad, another of tonight's features was lettuce, with steak garnished with blue cheese and tomatoes. Here we are in the middle of August at the height of the summer harvest of fine vegetables in a county that leads the entire state in agricultural production and my lettuce and tomatoes look and taste like they've just made the trip from Mexico. Really???? There is a farmer's market every Saturday within WALKING distance to the restaurant and you put that on my plate? I cannot knock the service...everyone was polite, genuine and prompt. The owner should show up and actually eat something here. Challenge your staff to create something fresh and local. Here's a good tip: Park your car in front of Bube's and walk two blocks south (across the busy Main Street at the light) and walk into Zuckfoltzfus. They have beer and they have excellent food. Fresh, local food.

So, real cool place (actually cold). Beer sampler was good. Beer wasn't very memorable. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered appetizers and the Ultimate Grilled Cheese. For some reason as we waited a long time we finally got the not so ultimate grilled cheese that we split. Few warm not hot fries on the side of a pretty small sandwich. We never received our appetizers and decided not to bother. Interesting place but not sure we would go back with zuckatolzfus brewery around the corner.

After reading the reviews on yelp I was somewhat hesitant to go to Bube's. However I am glad we decided to go. The staff was friendly and helpful. Dining in the catacombs was an enjoyable experience. The food was very good, there were two orders of seafood mornay One stuffed lobster tail and a New York strip steak all were excellent. The appetizers, crab dip and shrimp were very good and arrived promptly. The main courses arrived shortly thereafter with no wait, a fear that was prompted by other reviews. For an unusual dining experience, we recommend Bube's Brewery! Bill-Palmyra Pa

Our small band of revelers (4) had a wonderful time at one of Bube's public "feasts". We were pirates for the evening. It was an audience participation dinner theater....and it was a lot of fun! Our whole group had a great time. Food was just OK...Our meal that came with the feast was beef and pork, and it was a little dry, but fine for buffet style. Beer was disappointing for me as the package included Yuengling instead of their own craft brews....but most would be happy with the Yuengling. Remember...your really there for the entertainment and that was just plain fun! Remember! It is very adult themed. Although they do offer a family friendly version, if you are not at one of those...keep the kids at home. Also, it is very "hands on". Backrubs, etc. If you don't like adult humor and being touched, this place is not for you. However, if you can appreciate a dirty joke and have imagination, you'll have ball!!

My friends and I have been looking forward to visiting this establishment after hearing about the great beers they have to offer. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a hosted that acknowledged us by saying "are you here for the feast?". Having no idea what that meant, I said "no." Some awkward moments later, my group was sat in the bar area where we sat for 15 minutes before being greeted by a server. It was another 15 before we were brought drinks. We order appetizers which were less than mediocre. We also order wings that took about 40 minutes. They arrived cold and were terribly soggy. Overall a horrible experience.

This was the worst experience I had at any restaurant! We got there and they said 20 minute wait! So we waited 50 minutes and went to ask how much longer and they still had 4 tables before us! To top it off they had up to 12 tables empty! They just seemed very disorganized! I was very disappointed!

First time I came here we sat outside in the beer garden. Food was great . Really good garlic parm wings. Great beer and nice service. Second visit I went and sat at the bar. It was lunch time on a weekend. Place was practically empty. Very rude and unprofessional bar tender. Never asked me if my food was ok or needed anything. Had to wait while he finished texting and talking to his buddies. Basically I was ignored the whole time. I guess his buddies and cell phone were more important than a paying customer. The place is cool and has good food and beer, but service at the bar needs much improvement. Was really disappointed. Sorry.

This is my second time coming here for the murder mystery (years apart). Not worth the 48 bucks per person, way overpriced for what you get. Should have known it would have been boring and the food would be horrible (again) ....seriously bland. Acting was terrible, mostly just yelling, the story line was difficult to follow and again the food was HORRIBLE. I can't speak for the rest of the restaurant, I have heard the food there is good but what they serve you at the murder mystery is at best bad cafeteria food. Save your money, go have a nice dinner (maybe in the catacombs) and see a movie. Wish I could get my money back!!!

I've always had a good experience at Bube's. Generally ordering the ultimate grilled cheese and the french onion soups, I am never disappointed. I have yet to find another french onion soup I love as much as the Bube's version. In the summer we do like to sit in the beirgarten, but generally leave with our legs eaten alive by mosquitoes, so be prepared. But the outdoor pool table, and chess board is a nice touch. Also hearing the history of the place while able to tour the building is great, as others mention the stairs down to the catacombs are very narrow, but they do tell you to proceed with caution, and if I remember correctly there are signs even posted. I love places that still show the history and don't need to update and try and keep up with the times, but let the history of the building speak for itself. Give it a try!

They have an amazing place with alot of history and alot to see. I ordered a pasta dish a la alios which was amazing and also had there beer flight which consisted of 4 5oz. portions of Electric Karate Robot Russian Impereal Stout(not joking, full name) an espresso black and tan,a blond called Speakeasy and one made from peppers called Hop `benero. So just those thing made the "TWO HOUR TRIP FROM DELAWARE" worth it. Just based on that could make someone interested in going. There website says " your dinner party will be greeted by your host/hostess in period attire and take you on a tour of the brewery then to the catacombs where you will have dinner" Our "period guide" looked like a disheveld manager with a shakey personality and a stain on his tie. He wasnt in period dress, no one was AT ALL. But thats just nit picking. My group after the tour was taken to our table. I sat down and as I did my chair began to slide backwards. You dine in a catacomb, and while thats cool. Its completely unsafe for anyone who may be....... slightly clumsey. DO NOT EAT IN THE CATACOMBS if you have problems climbing stairs because theres a shit load of them. And deffinatly dont take the ghost tour cause theres 5 times as many steps to climb as well. Our sever was very nice and helpfull but the speed of service is awlful. Mainly I suspect is because where you eat is in a catacomb and the food is cooked and prepared up two flights of stairs where you come in. Heres the time frame. 8:30 pm heet host,8:46 seated at dinner,9:10 drinks are served,9:45 dinner served. They offerd to keep our dinners hot till after the ghost tour because it was going to start at 10. But its good we didnt do that cause the tour didnt end till 11:40 pm but thats another story. They were nice to wait for us to finish dinner before stating the tour but quicker service would have meant we could have had dessert but that didnt happen. I payed my $5.00 for the ghost tour and off we went. The guide was really really bad. Alot of bad one liners. It all started with a story about a ghost named John. (If youve ever seen the movie Spinal Tap, the words to stone hinge sounds the same, " we dont know what the droids were doing up there, who they were or why but there legacy lives on" his story about John was exactly the same" and the tour went on like tihs. I gave up about 20 mins into the tour. One I have a bad ancle and cant climb 4,000,000 steps and 2 it was sooooooo bad I wanted to eat a gun. So off to the Beir Garten to sample more beers. I had a crannberry cider and also orderd another beer flight. The beer by its self is worth the trip. Take my advice, skip the catacombs. They have a really nice pub called the Bottleworks and the Beir Garten is just a few steps away. I could see returning there one day if I lived closer but there are so many other brew pubs so much closer to home that I dont have to take that journey.

I went to this restaurant for my wife's birthday with a friend. We went in and asked for a table at the fine dining side. The girl looked at us and asked if we had seen the prices of the menu. To which I answered yes. She said ok wait here for the host he is doing a tour. the host arrived and took us on the tour of the place which was very interesting. Then he took us back to the bar side and said let me get you a table. At that moment I said we want to eat at the Catacomb (fine dining). He then turns to me and says "Have you seen the prices on the menu?" I replied, yes for the second time. Surprised by my answer he asked again. But have you seen the fine dining prices? I mean menu. Again I answered yes can we get a table? Before we sat down they had asked me 3 times if I had looked at the prices of the "fine dining". We asked a waitress that was at the hostess desk what would she recommend to eat and her response was "I don't know what is good downstairs. I don't make enough money to afford eating there". Once we went to the catacomb, the "fine dinging area", the waiter didn't seem to know the menu, or the difference between a tomato bisque and a tomato soup. Later on a someone on a table besides dropped their silverware and the waiter walks straight to our table and asked which one of us had dropped the silverware. At that moment I almost said something to the waiter but my wife asked me to let it go. Finally the food arrived and it was surprisingly good. My NY strip was cooked perfectly and my wife plate was very good also. My experience was horrible mainly because of the bad service. The food was good but I think they should at least try to give the service of a fine dining experience instead of service you would find at a McDonalds. I think they should train their staff and make them learn the menu items and dress up like they work in a fine dining restaurant. The waiter had a black t-shirt and black pants and the food runner had shorts, a t-shirt, sneakers and a blue bandana around his head. I will definitely not go back... and if you don't like to get insulted where you eat then don't go there......

Came here on a Tuesday night for a late Mother's day dinner and had mixed feelings from reading some of the more recent reviews here on Yelp. I was expecting lousy service and rude employees. To my pleasant surprise, all the employees were nice and easy to communicate with. The food was very good, too. I ordered the fish tacos and my mother ordered the crab cake. One of the employees gladly gave us a tour of the catacombs after we were done eating. They also have trivia on Tuesday nights which was fun to play. I would recommend this place to others and would return in the future.

two stars for atmosphere...everything else 1 star. Waitress kind, but not good at her job. Food horrible. Long wait on a Tuesday with an almost empty restaurant. appetizers came with the entrees and everything was cold. Friend had chili that was dry, dry! Like it had been sitting in a crockpot too long. French onion soup was warm, they "warned" us that it was hot, but it was not. That too looked cooked down as it was thick and had no broth or even bread under the cheese . Fish tacos on non heated stale flour tortilla. Spoke with the waitress and they apparently nuked it (after saying they would get me new ones) and the stale tortilla became a brittle tortilla which crumble to the touch. Only tasted the fish and that was bland and had a funny aftertaste, didn't eat it. Bube's needs to teach their staff skills for serving and cooking, instead of apologizing, because that is the only thing that was good, given quickly and fairly warm. The apology for the wait, the apology for bringing the aps with the entrees (which were already cold), the apology for the brittle tortilla, the apology for the wait for coffee. Been there a few times and the place just keeps getting worse-yet the prices keep getting higher. No longer worth the trip

    1) Beer had good flavor, but was warmer than what it should have been. We had three and they were about room temp as soon as we got them..gross. 2) Food...it was a joke. Over priced and lacking all around. I don't know what was going on but they should be ashamed. All and all not really worth the trip

Eight of us were very excited to try the catacombs for the first time Saturday night. The Catacombs were a unique dining experience but at end of day the meal was very overpriced for poor quality food that we each left largely unfinished. The service was slow as it took over 2.5 hours for the meal. Appetizers were disappointing (pretzels and beer cheese, mushroom tart, corned beef medallions). The filet was low quality and tasted very minerally. The green beans were the highlight of the meal and only thing worth eating. Avoid paying an extra $4 for the half ounce of lobster cream sauce as it is terribly salty and actually made the meal taste like a salt lick. Not convinced it's even made with lobster. I was very unimpressed by the meal and will not be returning. It's too bad because we were looking forward to trying it for so long.

Not a brewery. They had one beer they made, and it wasn't even that great. Didn't even have a beer list to hand out, it was sloppily written on a chalk board. The food was sub par at best. Very snobby environment. If you're looking to chill with friends DON'T go because they do not like laughter. You could not sit outside and drink if you were not ordering food. The only thing that was remotely decent was the waitress. Will not be returning.

Four of us went to the murder mystery dinner this past Saturday and our reaction when leaving was eh it was ok.... I'll break this up in two different sections so if you have no interest in hearing out the murder mystery you don't have to. The food We had a 5 course meal with our ticket prices. 1 course was a cocktail hour with some chips and dips nothing to really write home about. 2 basic small salad with no choice of dressing, there was a bowl on the table that had a red pepper taste to it that we assumed was the dressing but no one ever told us if it was or wasn't. The roll was very good. 3 soup was a red pepper bique (I guess they were on special at the farm) it was good if you like that sort of thing, but mast guests around us didn't eat much of it. 4 main course was served family style so if your weird about trays of food being passed around you may not like this. A tray of roast beef and chicken. The chicken looked under done but that was because of the lighting, it was pretty plain with maybe some salt and pepper. They had a homemade bbq sauce boat that I think they relied on for flavor, it was very good with a little kick. The roast beef was very good, moist and not over done. The side dishes were sauté green beans very good but it's kinda hard to mess that up. Wild rice was the other side dish, very bland with little to no flavor. Uncle Bens microwaveable pouches are better. 5 desert was a bite sized pumpkin cheesecake. I had a bite and it was ok. Very dense and not very creamy. Some of the people at the table behind us were complaining that there was no other option and they didn't like pumpkin. The bar was a cash bar and for the most part the price of drink was responsible. The entertainment This was are very first murder mystery dinner so we weren't sure what to expect and we had some expectations. We walked in and was greeted by a crazy haired hunchback that had a lisp for drama. He then told the butler where to seat us and we carried on to that room. There we were told to choose our seats and leave the napkin over the back of the chair so other guest knew it was reserved and have hors d'oeuvres. They were on a small table in the corner of the room. (Maybe a 4 person round table.) This room was small and very crowded making it extremely hard to get to any sort of food. We opted out of even trying after a few minutes and just went back to our seats. The show it self was ok entertaining but had a lot of slow points. The layout of the restaurant didn't help at all and if you weren't seated in one of the main rooms you missed a lot. We were in a small room off of the parlor it sat 12 people. The group of people on the room were loud so if the characters weren't in our room we couldn't hear the story line. With that type of layout some microphones and speakers in the room would have been nice. The only other thing I can say was it wasn't very interactive they never had you guess what the killer was or who it was. The story line was also more fantasy based which struck a bit odd to me. All in all it was a good night because of our company but I wouldn't be going back.

I wish I could give this stars in different areas. Here's why it gets 4. And also why it shouldnt, but does. Note, first, that I'm reviewing the Bottling Works, and primarily the outdoor beer garden. I've never been in the Catacombs except when I was randomly an extra in some weird vampire film being shot down there. I'm not joking. Look it up. Chosen Immortals. Anyhow. Food in the Bottling Works is good old bar food. Every now and then it's pretty darn good. Every now and then it's like 'I'm not sure I actually want to eat this.' Don't get the beer cheese. There is something essentially weird with it. It's like cold pack cheddar with hard...things in it. Burgers are usually good if you like them. And some of the sandwiches too. This isn't a place I have a craving for the food ever. I could leave the food. The beer garden is just amazing. They always have at least one good beer on tap, and I love a few of their own beers. The Hermit White (I think?) was amazing. So delicious. Some of the beers are hit or miss - you'll have to try. The outside is so pretty and perfect to drink in. This is really a place to come for the atmosphere.

This was my 1st, well actually the second time at Bube's, the first time me and my 'girls night out' ladies, picked up and left. paid for our beers and decided after waiting 1+hrs for the no show food was nonsense. fast forward 2.5 years tried the place again. the waitstaff was friendly and fun, the place was practically empty. 3 other tables were finishing up. My food came in a decent amt of time. the blackened fish was no where close to as good as I've experienced at Lucky Ducks. The beer was very good. eventually got my check, then 3 Y chromosomes came in and sat at the bar. we are down to me and them. Never saw my waitress again. She would have gotten a bigger tip had she come and at least got my card, so I left her cash.

I've gotten better food at a diner. Food was way overpriced for such small portions. Weird beach theme with sand and Boardwalk type docks around the tables. Watched more than 3 people fall off the plank. Waiter kept telling us the bar was so busy so we couldn't get our drinks right away, but we could hear the bartenders talking loudly about what they did last night. People talk so much about this place. Disappointing.

I surprised my friend for her birthday with a trip to Bube's. We were not disappointed. The bar has an excellent selection of beer & several delicious mixed drink specials. The Catacombs restaurant was so unique and the food was excellent. The service was top notch. I didn't know they rented rooms there & will definitely stay next time. When our server Jason (his wife was lovely as well) heard we came in from Pittsburgh, he gave us a quick tour since there weren't any available on Sunday evenings. He really went above and beyond. We're planning on coming back for one of the murder mysteries.

This review is for the Catacombs, not the Brewery. For the second year in a row, we had dinner here for our anniversary. While on the expensive side, the atmosphere and service cannot be beat. We were able to spend two hours having a relaxing dinner, never feeling rushed. We were fortunate enough to be sitting in the room with the large casks, which is much quieter than the larger dining area. This was, by far, the best and most detailed tour we have received on our way downstairs, and it was by a young lady who had only been there for two weeks. It definitely added to the experience. Most of the food was very good. The only exception was the end of my lobster tail was a bit over-cooked. Not enough to be a real problem, but something you wouldn't expect for $45. The crab filling on top of the tail more than made up for it. The only thing that would improve the atmosphere would be a nicer dress requirement. When spending almost $200 including tip, it is very disappointing to see someone wearing shorts and an collarless shirt at the next table. If you are looking for a unique dining experience, this is a must try.

Place was pretty cool. Lighting was dim and decor was interesting. We sat at the bar so it's the area I'll review. I didn't get to see the catacombs or the patio. Pretty large beer selection. Can't recall exactly which beers we had but they were good. We snacked on the alois fries and they were pretty good too. Siting at the corner of the bar, there was a tub almost in front of me where bartenders and waitresses threw (or slammed?) dirty dishes and silverware. It was very annoying because the noise it made everytime they "slam-dunked" dirty piles of stuff was very loud and I swear it echoed. I mean, can't you be a bit more careful? That seriously made my experience here a bit less than enjoyable. If we come back I'd like to try the catacombs or the patio area which looked lovely.

Terrible food, terrible service and terrible management . The steak was cold and tasted like it was two weeks old, the waiter smelled and the manager had no clue how to provide customer service . I would not recommend this to any one . The tour of the catacombs was great though , too bad dinner ruined the evening . It is a shame that it has gone downhill so much as I had a pleasant experience there in the pasty

We attended probably our 10-15th feast last night at Bube's. It was so much fun! The people have been there for many years and it is like seeing old friends every time. How can you not love James, just James, too poor to have a last name, Annie, Jane, Kate, and the Feastmaster? The staff made sure everyone was fed, entertained, and taken care of all evening. The massages are extra, but so worth it and a lot of fun. Love this place and will go again!

Just realized I haven't written on this yet. Hands down, the best place to go in Mount Joy! The wife go here more than any other restaurant and for good reason. We've tried so many different plates / beers. All have really surprised at how good they taste. There are plenty of different options for you. From the catacombs/themed dinners, to bottling works, to the seats in the beer garden. Did I mention there is a museum upstairs? The service beats out any other bar in town and there are plenty of events to keep it fresh. We've taken all of our friends here and always look forward to going again. You won't regret it. Also, get the alois fries!

As a professional arts and leisure writer who champions the Lancaster County brewing scene and writes on the subject of beer/restaurants/bars for many publications it pains me to have put a local business on blast, but I must--in good faith--let others know about my dismal experience at Bube's Bottling Works. My complaints are 3-fold and will follow in depth below. Please know I was once a fan of this establishment. Service. I was expectedly late to meet my group and was never greeted when arriving--no big deal. I found my group and squeezed into an awkward seat between the two tables (not sure why the two tables could not be combined to accommodate my entire party). I waited several minutes to see a server and after a while decided to go to the bar to get a drink. This is when I checked the time. It took ten minutes for someone to appear! When the bartender arrived she shot me an awkward look and turned around. She took a minute or two to enter something into the POS and eventually turned her head to me and asked if she could get me something. I asked about the beers on tap and she was reluctant to give me a detailed description. I ordered an import. Beer. I'm glad I ordered an import. Once I got back to my table(s) I was informed by my craft beer friends the beers were only about average. Hmm ... It's been more than a year since I'd been to Bube's and remember the beers were good. Again, after hearing the description from the bartender I opted not to try any of this brewery's offerings Pricing. The cost for everything at Bube's has become incredibly inflated. (Add-on pricing is out of hand; salad dressing is free except bleu cheese, which will cost you an extra$1. Celery and bleu cheese with 10 wings is an additional $2--making the appetizer $9.95!) The beer is expensive compared to other breweries in the area. The food cost is inflated compared to the quality. When I took a closer look at our tab I was shocked and did the following investigation; I sent the info and request to every available means of communication to Bube's (except USPS). My polite requests for a response to my message were ignored via email and eventually deleted from social networking sites. Here is what I sent: "I have a problem with the price I paid for chocolate milk while visiting the Bottling Works on Saturday Nov. 8. One 8 oz. Styrofoam cup from Dart, 1000 per case @ $18.49 = 0.01849 One Dart 8FTL lid, 1000 per case @ $12.49 = 0.01249 One Gallon (128 oz) PA State Retail-priced Milk $4.57, 8 oz @ $0.03570 per oz. = 0.28563 Total Cost = 0.31661 So, rounding up the max cost for this product $.32 for 8 ounces of chocolate milk. I was charged $3.15 on Saturday. That's five cents less than a 1000 percent markup! I would like to know why? Please, provide me with an explanation of this over-inflated cost. PA minimum wage = $7.25 per hour Let's say it took the server 10 minutes to take and process my order for this one item. That's a cost of $1.20. Double the actual cost of the milk, $.64, and add to the wage. $1.84. For $1.31 you are going to lose a handful of customers for life." I received no response whatsoever. No email responses to emails I sent directly to management or through regular email. No responses on Facebook, private or otherwise. I may try Bube's again in the future, but for now I am staying away. There are many other establishments in Lancaster County providing a higher quality product and better service for less.

WHAT A STRANGE PLACE! I was at Bube's Brewery recently for a Murder Mystery Dinner party for my friends Birthday. Upon walking inside, we were greeted by the employees in full character. Before the dinner started everyone gathered in the bar area to mingle, read mystery clues and snack on appetizers. They had 4 of their own brews on tap, as well as the standard bottled beers and a full bar. The appetizers were different dips with chips/pitas. Everything served was EXTREMELY SALTY and had a lot of garlic powder on it. The apps got a 1 star from me. The murder mystery "show" began abruptly while everyone was standing in the bar and we were then told to take our seats. Since we had a party of 12, we had our own private room off of the main bar area. It was nice to be secluded from the other patrons that weren't with our party. They served a sad salad of roman lettuce, with an interesting roasted tomato dressing (it had a ketchup flavor to it). The dressing was the highlight of the salad. Then came butternut squash/corn soup. It tasted much more like corn than squash and was in a very tiny bowl. The main entree was served family style. Baked chicken breast (salt & pepper only), sliced roast beast, green beans, rice pilaf and a vat of a chunky (homemade?) BBQ sauce. The chicken was very boring and tasted like my mom's go-to weeknight meal. The rice was a little on the dry side. The beans were fine. I didn't taste the beef but it didn't look all that appetizing. We were served a tiny square of some peanut butter crusted cheese cake with chocolate syrup on top. If it wasn't a measly 4 bites, I probably wouldn't have ate it. Although the food was strange/poor for a restaurant, I believe they were trying to serve a meal that was complementary to the story they were telling. My review on the food is very poor, but the employees and "actors" are helping to bump up my rating on this place. The actors were very enthusiastic and engaged everyone in the audience. They put on a good show, although it was kind of hard for most of us to follow the entire plot of the story because we were distracted by everything else going on (food/talking). I am not a big murder mystery kind of gal, so I probably wouldn't do this again but if you enjoy that kind of thing, they put on a good show, just don't expect a very exciting meal. The Bube's Brewery building was very interesting and decorated to the 9's. Hopefully this place serves better food in their regular dining room but I doubt I will be returning to find out.

Their own beer was amazing. Quaint atmosphere... Lots of potential but the food was mediocre and the service was downright awful. Not her fault maybe...too few staff and way too much ground for her to cover.

The food was delicious. They are a small brewery that takes special care to ensure that the client has a great time. I had a specialty sandwich which couldn't have been any better and an ESB from this location that is one of the betters I have had from a brewpub in PA.

Place is an organizational disaster! Ate here with my gf and her family last night to celebrate a birthday and came away wishing we had gone somewhere else. Her Mother had called ahead to let them know that there was a large party coming and make a reservation. Apparently, what they didn't tell her was that they only take reservations for one part of the restaurant (the Catacombs) and that it had already been reserved and that there was also going to be a wedding party there! We arrived with our party of 9 only to be told this. Also confusing, there are 2 host stations, 1 for the Catacombs and 1 for the bar/main restaurant. Here's an idea, streamline things and use Open Table! Finally after waiting 45 minutes, we were seated. What we were treated to cinched this place as a total clusterfuck! Our server, had been assigned not only our party, but 3 other tables in the main restaurant, and also another party of 9 downstairs in the Catacombs. While he was busting his hump running all over the place, the 3 hosts continued to stay put at their stations rolling silverware. Now, I don't know if this place fell victim to a common thing in restaurants (the no-call, no-show), leaving them short staffed, but either way, restaurants are a team effort and even the hosts are supposed to help run tables when the shit hits the fan. Instead, the 3 hosts continued to act blissfully unaware that the place was going down in flames! I finally had to get up and order beers from the bar and expressed my disgust making sure our server knew that we didn't hold him responsible. On top of it, I ordered the vaunted "Ultimate Grilled Cheese" and got white toast with a sloppy mess. I've seen monkey shit fights more organized than this place and sincerely hope they get it figured out because if they do, I'm sure it can be spectacular! To show that I'm not trying to poop all over this place, the beer is excellent and so are the pickle chips!

I've been going here for just over a year - still just the bottling works, and the biergarten - but that's enough. The place has a lot of character - it's a shame they don't do more to take advantage of what they have. I've seen this place go through times with no brewers, interim brewers, bad brewers, and started with pretty good brewers... but, they've simply fallen from grace. The beer quality is in near free fall, sadly. Tonight was frozen lines, a single bube's beer on tap, and everything on tap was warm... Top that off with slow service and mediocre overpriced food (I had the pub steak, which was quite good last time I had it - not so much, this time... but the stuffed mushrooms are the worst value on the menu), and I just need to find a new place to haunt. The second star is thanks to their exceptional wings - meaty and tasty, but just not enough of a bright spot to keep me coming, Thanks, but no thanks...

It's been a few years since I have been to Bubes. They always had good food and beer. Unfortunately the quality of the food went down hill. The pulled pork sandwich was very dry and wings were burnt (with the exception of the four on top!). The service was extremely slow. When another server brought our appetizer we asked him to remove the empty beer glasses and he refused and said that's your servers job! As always I have no complaints about the beer. Always nice to have rotating home brew selections! It's just unfortunate that the service and food were so poor.

I used to go here for event quiet often. I was excited when we were looking for a place for my daughter's 21st birthday. We went and met with a wonderful lady about planning the event. She walked us through an awesome tour and was very open to anything we would like! She worked with us. Then I called today to try and put the deposit down and ask a few questions. I spoke to the General Manager, and I use that term loosely, and he was rude from the beginning. He tried to bully me into paying more and stating what we had agreed upon wasn't possible. That the lady who made the plans should not have done that and that I would have to pay more if I wanted to hold the event there. He also stated he was not trying to disappoint anyone, but that it just couldn't be possible. First off, we are holding it on a Sunday afternoon. Secondly, I do event planning professional and have NEVER been treated as poorly as this guy did. The fact he was going to go against a contract we just put the deposit down on (which held him to the contract we agreed upon) was crazy. He wanted to give us a smaller room, without a bar (I was going to pay $75 for a bartender for the other room) and wanted to limit our food to a buffet instead of lunch dinners like we were told is crazy! The place isn't that big, we weren't on the top floor only the 2nd floor and not that far from where he wanted to put us without the bar. After getting ready to cancel, which would have cost me money because invites have been sent out already, and the fact we were going to drive 35 mins to this place for this party, he decided to honor the agreement...but not without me holding my ground. If I would have delt with this guy from the beginning I would have NEVER made the agreement with them. Very disappointed. I sure hope this party goes off better than this unprofessional manager handled me, the customer. I know I will think twice before setting up any type of event with them if this is the way they will be treating customers now. Sad thing too because they use to be very good. Got a call from the manager there who harassed me on the phone to force me to cancel because he was upset that I wrote this review on trip advisor about the hararssment I received from the manager and the fact he wanted to back out of the promised event I was scheduling there. I told him I already sent the invites out and would like to keep this place where the party will be. He stated fine that he would honor it and would have the baker call...that was over a week ago and still no call..then I saw where he went after a customer because that customer complained about the wings being cooked badly and other customers had to step in. Now I have to get a hold of 30 people to let them know the birthday party is being moved to a different venue because of a a harassing and verbally abusive manager that doesn't want to make money on 30 people coming there and won't honor what was promised to his customer. He also lies and doesn't follow through with what he says will be done. I won't ruin my daughter's birthday party because the "manager" and I use that lightly, doesn't understand how important customers are and has a chip on his shoulder thinking he's god and can treat people like crap. Beware. Hopefully I get my $100 deposit back.

Oh man, what a great place!! I've been living in Hershey for almost 4 years and will be leaving soon and I'm so sad that I only discovered Bube's recently. Bube's is a really neat old building that has been converted into multiple dining spaces while also serving as a brewpub. I've been to the regular pub area and the Catacombs, which is a more formal dinner that is served in the stone catacombs of the building, over 40 feet beneath the ground. The pub fare was absolutely delicious and their beer is very, very good (and I'm a huge beer guy). The Catacombs' atmosphere was really, really fun and the meal was super delicious. I really, really like this place and I would come here all the time if I was staying in the area. They also do themed feasts and murder mystery dinners, so definitely check them out!

Great beer selection, especially if you're looking for something a little different than what franchise restaurants offer. We only had appetizers, which were all very good. The buffalo chicken wings at their spiciest could be a little spicier, but a fun experience and an amazing location made our time there perfect!

Ate at the catacombs fine dining. Everyone at the table agreed their food was really good but not amazing. I order the duck entree which had a great flavor but was slightly overcooked. Two other people ordered the short ribs and they enjoyed them. What you pay for here is the atmosphere. It's a very cool place for a dining experience. The dining rooms are underground stone walled rooms that were used in the old brewery. Extremely unique experience. A tour was included in our meal but our hostess was a young girl that gave a very mediocre tour. We heard another gentlemen giving a tour on the way out and we were all bummed we didn't get him. Loved their beer. I tried three different types and it was all extremely good. Highly recommend if you like craft beers. We plan to visit again in the summertime to enjoy the outdoor beer garden, great beers, and more reasonably priced pub food upstairs. Maybe we can swing a better, more in depth tour of the place.

Really loved the ambiance of this place! First heard of it through Ghost Hunters so I knew I had to give it a try once I moved to PA. For more affordable options, it's best to dine in the bar. But if you really want to absorb the ambiance of this place, you have to dine in the catacombs. The menu in the catacombs is fancier and pricier. I tried frog legs for the first time! I won't be doing that again. I will be back to Bube's, however, whenever I'm in the area. Good beer too!

***Updated: Went back with a group of 9 people and we sat around the bar waiting for a table for 45 minutes and we couldn't even get a glass of water. Instead the bartenders just kept coming back to say they'll be with us soon. After 55 minutes, we walked out. Not one person asked us to stay. This place has no one managing and everyone was running around looking frantic and lost. We took our group and went to another resturant where we were happy to spend our $500+ dollars on dinner and drinks. Don't even bother going here. This place just wants to cater to the drunk college kid crowd and not the professionals with money to spend. Not a bad place but certainly not great. Despite the overall feeling of unearned superiority they practically shoved down your throat when you check in, the place is mediocre at best. I have several complaints. The staff seems highly unorganized and no one cross-checks. There's very much a feeling of, "that's not my job" type of attitude that cheapens the whole place. Second, my party of 17 was treated like a problem instead of a valuable asset to their finances even though we went through all the steps to alert them of our arrival a week prior. After telling us to check in the day prior, we were forced to book a banquet room. They informed us "not to break anything." The party was for older professionals, so we all felt like this quick judgement was maybe because they deal with unsavory types often. The food for the private party menu was okay. Plate presentation was boring and they don't give sauces for things like fries or chicken fingers. The food was close to fast food meets Applebee's quality with Applebee's being of higher quality and taste. Lastly, I tried to peek down into the catacombs because I was interested in coming back for a nice dinner and was basically thrown out of the area and scolded like trash. I spend a lot of money on food and I refuse to drop another dime at this establishment after this experience. Place is best for frat boys and Disney land novelty and not for professionals and foodies that enjoy a good meal paired with excellent service.

This place is cool!! The food was decent and most of the beers were good. Stay away from the Alt Beer! The Saison was good as was as the Smoked Raspberry Porter. I had the Ultimate Grilled Cheese with a crab cake and bacon inside! That was really good!! My wife had a steak salad and the mozzarella puffs. Those were really good as well! The price was reasonable and we will go again!! My wife reminded me of the wings. They were coffee chipotle wings! There were decent and fun to eat!!

Love Bubes! A great place for drinks & good food in an intimate setting. I've only eaten in the 'bottling works' and the outside garden area. A good seasonal selection of their own brews & other breweries on tap, and some of the standard beers. Never had any problems with the beer, or the food, have taken out food a few times. Also can get their beers out via growler. Only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that their vegetarian options are quite limited.

Wow, I can't believe I haven't thought to review this place yet. I have so many amazing stories surrounding this bar, it is ridiculous. I made this bar(that is such a small name for it) a destination for me, and three of my friends on our way to Philly. Had to stay overnight in a cheesy bed and breakfast across the street (we got the Valentines Room, complete with jacuzzi), because there is no hotel in town. Actually, there is nothing in this town, but Bube's. Alas, that is part of what makes it so special. When we arrived the place was empty. It smelled like the den of a pirates ship, in fact it looks like the den of a pirate ship, what with all the old bottles in the wall. IT was late at night, and not much was going on. We took a seat at the bar and soon befriended a person who was familiar with the place. We got offered a tour by he who shall remain nameless, and found ourselves in a world of wonder. Went into the depths where the brew the beer (even fit inside one of the casks) Took a tour of the soon to be "hotel rooms" going up. These are themed rooms. I honestly think they are for a swingers party. Everything from Tarzen themed, cowboy, princess, tiki. Name it, they got it. I think you have to rent the enitre floor out if you want to use it. Community bathrooms (which were done in a gorgeous manner). The place was like a funhouse, the painting on the walls done in such a manner to confuse you as to where you are in the building, and what door you just went through. I felt like a kid again. That is one of the best things about this place, the fact that most of the patrons downstairs enjoying their turn of the century feast(which they throw in the basement, which used to be part of the underground railroad! They also have many different themed events down there), to their cocktails in what once was, one of the coolest martini bars I have ever set foot into, they have no idea that this place has those rooms above them. It also has an art gallery and was named one of the most haunted places in PA. The outside area is especially cool because you get to play pool out there. They have live bands come and play as well. The night we went it was open mic night and we rocked out. If you were a closer friend I could tell you more about this place, so many fun, strange, magical times that we have had there. You will have to just seek it out and experience them for yourself. Oh! and they throw a Halloween party every year that is supposed to be the best around! My only drawback is that when I visited in 2002, they had a martini bar with a man in a tuxedo and white cloth serving you, with live jazz and a true martini. It felt like a speakeasy with all the old antiques. They changed it a bit in the years to come, not as cool, but still a great setting. (the artwork is super creepy as well.

I love microbreweries. This boasts as a dinner-theater as well! Didn't know it when I came here, but I hope to come back for one of their events. Wife and I shared the tenderloin tips and they were awesome. We both got our own beer sampler. The beer's were hit or miss, but can't love them all. The selections change so don't expect the same beer all the time. If the weather is agreeable, sit out side if you're not doing one of the themed dinners.

This place has been a local favorite since I moved into the area ten years. Whether it's going there for their trivia night with friends, taking the kids to the Bier Garden in the summer or taking a date to the Catacombs, this place is great for any occasion. The staff is great and the food is fantastic. I personally love the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwitch. Highly recommend!!!

Last night went to a murder mystery there and the only mystery we encountered was why the food was so pricey and so awful. The decor is fine for the type of restaurant and we enjoyed the black lager beer on tap which is the only reason why I gave this two stars. The web site claims to serve appetizers but I'd harly call it this when there 3 trays consisting of tortilla chips w/gaucamole, baguette slices with a spread and a naan type of bread cut into triangles also with a spread, not to mention there was at least fifty or more obviously hungry people to feed (the trays were left spotlessly empty.) The purpose of the dinner, the murder mystery, was ok but did not engage me without it feeling forced. I would have preferred all of us in one room as the tiny two table room we were in left us feeling somewhat isolated, but the actors did travel around. Would I go back, a resounding NO.

Good food. Very casual service but still very good and accommodating. Richie Blackmore says on his web site it's one of his favorite places to hang out in the world, and he has places listed all over many countries. Everything we've tried has been very good. The building itself is interesting and it's quite a pleasant dining experience all the way around. I reserve 5 stars for truly amazing places, but this is a solid 4 stars.

The positive: this is a really cool and historical building in a neat little town. Everything else was terrible, though. We were a party of three and had to wait over 1 hour from the time we ordered until the time we got our food. (There were only two other couples in the whole restaurant, so the delay is a big mystery. The other couples even got their food before us, despite coming in later!) When the food did finally arrive, my burger was very overdone (though edible), my wife's chicken tenders were so burned they were not edible, and my dad's reuben was almost soupy. We had to seek out the waitress when we wanted anything (she was dancing at the cash register, much too busy to check on her three tables), and she didn't seem to notice or care about the black chicken tenders she served. In addition to all of that, the flies were horrible. We were swatting them away from us the whole time we were in the restaurant. Sadly, I do not think I'll ever be going back to this place, and I could not recommend it for anything more than a beer. Maybe if you're drinking, the place seems better.

Okay, I've been here twice and both times were just "okay"...But to be fair, I've only been on the outside patio and in the bottling works to eat. Their house brews are pretty good, I can't remember exactly which ones I've had but I know one was their belgian. When we ate in the bottling works, it was a weeknight and it was totally void of people, so it seemed a little weird. Food is okay, typical bar menu. Fun to go here with friends, next time I'm trying the catacombs out!

I've had quite a few drunken nights at this place, since it's my hometown bar of choice, and all my out of town friends I've brought here have loved it. Their own house beers are very good, and constantly changing. My favorites are their Hefeweizen, and I wish I could remember the Christmas one, but well, I was drinking, and it tasted like gingerbread. Literally. The food is good, though there's not much for a vegan, but what IS available is still pretty tasty. Everything else LOOKS good to read about, but I can't really pass judgement on it in all fairness. The bartenders are all great, and we usually end up in some pretty ridiculous/hysterical conversations that are generally not repeatable in polite company. My one complaint is that there is often live music, and just as often, it's not good live music. In warm weather, it's really nice to sit outside in the biergarten. I also know they have themed feasts and such in the catacombs, and murder mysteries in the aloise bar, but I've never been to one, and never intend on going. I'm perfectly content hanging out in the bottling works.

I'm not entirely sure if it's fair to write this review based off of one dinner, and that that dinner was not a Roman feast or glutton-based, adult-themed occasion in a subterranean crypt? Nonetheless, we were pleasantly surprised: decent home brews, great wings and solid dinners. If you're a beer connoisseur or even weekend explorer, I recommend getting a flight of samplers of the home brews on tap. Among these, you are sure to find at least two that you'll really like - for me it was the Rye IPA, for my friends, it was the Hefeweize and the Porter. Wings were meaty, not too crispy, and well sauces - we went with the Devil's Touch, the second hottest, about a 8.5 on the schvitz-o-meter. Dinner comprised burgers, fish tacos (grilled, not fried), and turkey burger. These were all satisfying. The shrimp soup was ok, but the mashed potatoes were da bomb. Service was prompt and accommodating, the atmosphere was friendly, the decor interesting (make sure to take a peek at the catacombs, not necessarily the full tour). How can you go wrong with a place pronounced like mammaries?

This place was quite the experience. We happened upon a brewery tour when we arrived and the guide/brew master let our group of seven tag along. We toured the brewery and the catacombs below. The setting is historical and we'd love to come back for a catacombs dinner. Afterward we had some beer and appetizers at the bar. The beers were good and the appetizers included fried pickles, definitely a favorite. I definitely want to come back to this place. Cool setting, good service.

We've been to multiple "Feasts" (Halloween, Pirate, Other themes) in the Catacombs at Bube's. Since part of these feasts is interaction with the actors/staff, it helps to have an outgoing personality. The actors/entertainers are fun, and the wine punch is tasty, but the food is buffet style and mediocre, and while you are eating, a bunch of the actors go around offering their different services (like a shoulder massage or a fortune telling) and expect you to pay and tip them above the cost of the Feast. If you go with a group of friends, the experience can be fun. If you go as just a couple, a Feast evening becomes very pricy, and can leave you feeling rather cheated.

Tonight 10/16 we were there for the Dinner with the Count and Countess. Well first the atmosphere in the Catacombs is nice and the mashed potatoes amazing. Second. Get a new younger more attractive Dracula. Not one who's accent sounds like he's from Brooklyn (no offense Brooklyn natives). The "show" was more perverse than entertaining. The actors would only pay attention to the patrons when money was waved and then would get a tasteless massage (good if you are the husband/boyfriend who wants to see their girl massaged by another hot girl). The actors need varying lines. I heard each character say the same thing over and over. Also don't feed 200 people cabbage when they are all stuffed into a room like sardines in a can. IF we return I would like to try out the beer at a table where I can breath.

Over the last 3 years I have attended Valentines Aloise at Bubes, a birthday party in the Catacombs, and many nights of relaxing in the Bottling Works and Bier Garden. After experiencing all the areas this 3 part restaurant has to offer, I feel it is time to review it. The only real way to review Bubes is to review each of the sections individually. ALOISE: Aloise is the old hotel part of the restaurant. Although it is nice, it is shabbily decorated and the furniture is very cheap unsteady. The food was OUTRAGEOUSLY overpriced and dry/old tasting. It was 180$ for 2 people to eat a chicken dinner and have two drinks. I ordered the scallops for 13$....what arrived was laugh out loud terrible. A plate with three small scallops on it. Really?? CATACOMBS: The Catacombs were a very cool, underground old cavern you get to dine in. You get to take a brief tour on the way down, which would have been good if the kid (maybe 15 years old) had any idea what he was talking about. He just kinda quietly pointed at items and was obviously not trained very well. I did have a major issue with the reservation service. I arranged a party of 12 for the Catacombs and actually spoke with the reservation taker 4 separate times in the week before the party....yet when my party arrived we had NO RESERVATION!!!! Luckily they were almost empty and were able to seat us. Once underground, the Catacombs service was okay...again OUTRAGEOUSLY OVERPRICED mediocre food. We drank a lot and had a great time regardless of the price of food, it was a cool experience only because of the atmosphere. The claim you will be served by a wench, which is not accurate. Just a regular server in a dress. No show! No camp! BIER GARDEN & BOTTLING WORKS: The Bier Garden and the Bottling Works are in my opinion the only reason to really visit Bubes. Great food, good prices, amazing beers, fun local music acts....a classic and ageless place to enjoy a weekend night. Overall I do enjoy Bubes Brewery. I keep going back and will recommend it to anyone looking for a good time in a cool building, but just don't get any hopes up if you are seeking really good food at reasonable prices.

I can only attest to the bar experience here . . .I know I ordered an app and hubby some cheesecake but I was too inebriated to remember the taste. I sat down at the bar and told the bartender Bill my likes for beer and he served me one up pronto, sorry also have no idea what it was but I LOVED it. Bill ordered my party up a tour and I fell in love. . .with the building not Bill. It was so fun and interesting, especially the catacombs and giant shaft. Go for the beer and the atmosphere, say hi to Bill, the star of the show.

If you're into unique dining experiences, themed feasts, quality beer, or pirates, you need to put a visit to Bube's Brewery on your to do list. Located in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, this 19th century brewery and museum contains 4 extraordinary restaurants, live events, an unusual store, and an art gallery displaying works from local artists. Bube's has a very rustic, vintage atmosphere, as everything has been preserved as it existed years ago. My experience with Bube's was in the Catacombs, an incredible restaurant located 43 feet underground in the old stone cellars where enormous wooden casks used to be full of aging beer. The atmosphere is beyond unique, as the quiet stone caverns are lighted only by candlelight atop a number of dinner tables. What an experience! Not to mention that the food was great and the service superb. They even provided a free dessert to help us celebrate a birthday in our dining party. I tried a few of the house brewed beers- an IPA that really threw me off because of it's unique maltiness and a red ale that was just perfect. My date tried a caramel apple martini that was equally delicious, and the prices for everything on the menu were very reasonable. Both the swordfish and the seafood mornay were wonderful. All in all, dining in the Catacombs was an experience I will not soon forget, and I am already planning a return visit to try the other dining establishments at Bube's Brewery. Those include the original bar called Alois, the Bottling Works, and the outdoor Biergarten. Themed dinners also include Murder Mysteries, Roman Feasts, Medieval Feasts, Pirate Feasts, Halloween and Christmas Feasts. Bube's is truly a must, try it for a romantic dinner, a fun themed evening, or just for something altogether different. You can check out their upcoming events, menus and more on their website.

What a cool place! The food is great, the beer is cold, and we even got one of those giant beer flasks (what are they called?) to go! It's a lovely souvenir that I have proudly displayed in my kitchen. I'd recommend checking out the catacombs downstairs. They're full of history, and depending on what you believe, maybe they're even haunted. We asked if we could see them when we arrived and got a private tour since they hadn't opened for dinner yet. Just to be cute, we tried to take a picture to see if we could catch one of those spots of lights that can only signal one thing - ghosts - but alas, no luck. So no ghost sightings but the waitress who brought us down said she's definitely had some interesting creepy feelings down there like a cold breeze coming through (there are no windows 40 feet underground). Overall, a very cool spot in Amish country.

A brew pub in the classic (19th century) sense. We started with a tour of the catacombs and brewery; an interesting (if more than a bit medieval) experience. They brew a wide range of beers, each served on tap. The stout and brown ale were my particular favorites, but a Kolsch and a Heffweizen were also among the styles available. Unfortunately, the kitchen's talents and standards are nowhere near those of the brewery, but not horrible. There are a lot of "theme nights" and "dinner events," we stumbled by on a night where nothing special was going on. Fun, and a good place to down a few cold beers.

Had a dinner party there for 19 people recently. We all dined in the catacombs. First off the atmosphere is amazing. I loved the feel of the entire place. The wait staff was wonderful as well! Where the restaurant was lacking was in the food department and price. We all had a pre fixe menu which was over $50 a person. There was homemade pretzels and a cheese dip on the table but wasn't enough to go around. When I received my appetizer the bottom was still cold. Plus the pork and the chicken was really overcooked which made it very dry and tough. If I had more time I would of have them take my plate back and have it cooked properly. Bottom line is what you pay for is the atmosphere. Fine dining it is not but if you can look past that it is a very cool and interesting place to eat.

We stayed at Rocky Acre Farms and came her for dinner our first night. Surprisingly kid friendly. We ate outside in the Beer Garden. Food was good, beer was excellent, service was mediocre, but we were a large group, so that may have caused issues. If you're in the area it's a great stop.

Awesome awesome place. Everytime I am in the area I have to stop in to Bube's. They make their own beer and you can sample multiple flavors. Take a growler home of your favorite. Can be hard to get a table sometimes due to the popularity of the place. But just belly up to the bar while you wait for a table or better yet eat right at the bar. Inside bar and an outside bar. Inside dining or outside dining in a nice gardeny setting. Pool table outside. Great live music. Food interesting and good. Architecture very interesting here. If you get a chance take the tour. The catacombs are awesome. I have not done one of the themed dinners down stairs but I've seen the costumes and spoke to people that have partaken. Sounds like much fun, pirates, renaissance or Caesar, togas and all!!! The bootlegger history of the place alone makes it well worth the trip!!!!

Great place! We stopped for lunch, the food was good, service was very good, and the price reasonable. It's a neat brewery with a distinct setting that's worth the stop.

This hidden gem has everything wrapped up in one. There is a formal dining which is underground in the oh so romantic catacombs. They have multiple bars(all awesome), with all with different feels. There is a beer garden with outside seating as well. If you go for dinner at the catacombs, they offer tours of the different areas within the brewery. They also have feasts and murder mysteries (very entertaining) on weekends. This was a fun experience, but I wasn't a fan of sitting at a family style table with strangers, and the food was family style. In my opinion, too expensive for that. There is often live entertainment on weekends at the bar. I recommend the beer garden and catacombs and at least one Murder mystery(even if you do it once). Food is good, atmosphere is amazing, most importantly, beer is top notch. If you are questioning if it is worth the drive, yes, it is. This place is going to be one of your favorites if you have never tried it yet. :)

It hurts to give Bube's any less than 4 stars because the beer alone was so good, but the overall experience fell short for me. We ate in the catacombs, so the atmosphere itself was an experience. We had someone show us down and explain different historical aspects of the location. There was also a really nice art gallery with pieces from local artists. Service seemed to be a bit off, because we waited about 20 minutes before anyone came to our table to take our drink orders and then felt like the waitresses were rushing us the rest of the night. The food was very good, but nothing was memorable in my opinion. The beer was definitely the star of the show, everything we tried from the beer menu was unique and delicious. Although Bube's didn't live up to the hype I was building for it, I would definitely come back for the themed feasts which seem like a blast or sit upstairs at the bar.

i went here many years ago for a medieval feast but had not been back in a long time for whatever reason. went here this past saturday for a late lunch in the bottling works and can't believe i waited so long! for drinks i had a glass of reisling because i'm not a beer drinker. wine was good. partner had the sampler of bube's 5 homemade beers and he loved them all...so much in fact that he took home a growler of the belgian style and the dark lager. for food i had a cup of the tomato bisque which was really delicious. also had an order of their mild wings....i thought i would be safe with mild wings as i'm not really a fan of the spicy...well word to the wise even mild is super hot! they had a great flavor though. partner had the tuscan grilled chicken sandwich and steak fries and he raved about both. prices are on the average side for food and a bit on the high side for alcohol. growl of the dark lager was $13 and for the belgian style there was an upcharge that brought it to about $18...(contrast this to about $10 for a growler of lancaster brewing company beer). we took a little tour of the building and were amazed by the artist they had showcased in their gallery and one of the workers was kind enough to show us around the catacombs. we are really looking forward to the warmer weather and being able to sit out in the biergarten. great setting, great food and excellent drinks.. one of the coolest places i've been to in lancaster or anywhere in sc pa!

Kick ass beer & the best wings ever. I love a good craft beer, Bubes has a great selection. Their wings are nice & crispy, huge, & not overly "wet".. Their dry rub wings & garlic parm are AWESOME. Bubes is a really laid back place. The service is good without being overbearing/overly "fake" nice. The wings rock & the beer is tasty!

This place is cool. If you are in the area this is a must. I must say I do not remember a whole lot about the food but the experience in itself is a must! You eat down in catacombs and they place is just wayyyyy neato. You get a tour of the place and the servers are dressed up. Great beers! We sat at the bar after dinner and drank the night away. Great place to check out!

ARRRRR, Mateys! I've been lucky enough to visit this great old establishment and have dined in the catacombs, bier garden, Alois Martini bar, and the bottling works. Until last sunday, though, I had not fully appreciated what Bubes has to offer! My brother was turning 27, and mom decided a great birthday event would be to attend the Pirate Feast in the Catacombs. Be forewarned if ye be offended easily: the actors who play the pirates do it well, complete with sexual innuendos and dirty jokes. I almost fell of my chair laughing when one of the quite attractive pirate wenches unbuttoned my usually stoic Dad's shirt and started rubbing his chest at the table! For 10 or twenty bucks (this is where they make their money) they will give you or your unwitting victim a rubdown. Since it was, after all, my brothers birthday we couldn't resist slipping Ruby Wonder a ten to see what would happen. In the middle of dinner she walked up behind him, pulled of his shirt, oiled him down and gave him a massage, which ended with her sitting on his lap and singing happy birthday. His girlfriend was mortified, and my folks and I were almost in tears laughing. You also eat family style, so you are a large table with a bunch of people you don't know.....or didn't know when you walked in. At one point a pirate was also drizzling hot wax onto the chest of a young lady sitting across from me. The pirates also sang songs, had a plethora of low-brow jokes and stories, and generally entertained the crowd. I would highly recommend this feast, and I would love to go back for more with a larger group of rowdy friends. Why only four stars if this was such a great time? The booze. We were at a brewpub, for Blackbeard's sake and they served us the Yeungling Lager! Now, I don't have anything against the ol pottsville swill, but when I know there is delicious micro brews on premise, I would much rather have a pitcher of that instead of 9 bucks for lager. It was still a great time, but at 40 bucks a person I would probably save it for special occasions.

Went there last year for Valentine's Day. We ate downstairs which was pretty cool. The food there was great and the service there was so good that my girlfriend wound up tipping almost everyone that worked there that night.

Second oldest brewery in PA I believe. What a cool place. I had a blast there. Excellent food. Great portions. Great entertainment. Cheap Eats and suds. Tons and tons of beers. Highly recommend.

  • Ok this review is related to the Bubes review. Now unlike Bubes this bar is awesome!.. Scott the bartender is very friendly and takes care of his customers. The bar or should i say martini lounge is in the old hotel part of the building. Sporting flapper hey day decor and an ancient disco ball old antique furniture and jazz bands every saturday including ..http://www.myspace.com/thereeseproject This bar is above and beyond a whole different world compared to the one it is attached to . I highly reccomend this bar for both the ambiance and quality of service. Which brings me to the beer they brew. Unlike the other bar the kegs are right below this bar and the glasses are kept very clean (thanks Scott).. which means the beer is fresh and tastings are encouraged. And believe it or not they actually brew some really good beers. Overall ..show up late have a couple cocktails and enjoy this little gem that is usually overlooked for the loud obnoxious craphole its connected to.

Boob's? Boobies'? I couldn't understand where my sister said she was taking us! Ahhh...now I see... Bube's! (I would have never stumbled upon this place if she didn't live here and discover it first.) soooo, is this a restaurant, a bar, an art gallery, a brewery, a theater, a gift shop, or a haunted old hotel...??? YES Okay, here's the deal. It's a super cool place with plenty of variety for various tastes in atmosphere and dining experiences... -Fine dining in the catacombs (huh??) 40 some feet below street level (they also offer theme event feast nights here...check the schedule in advance and reserve a table) -Parlor dining with an extensive martini menu (limited hours) -Bavarian style Biergarten dining centered around the steam generating boiler that runs the brewery (when the weather allows) -the Bottling Works restaurant and tavern (this is where I ate) -and tons more...I'll have to update this review after subsequent visits So, we ate in the tavern, which offers a menu of appetizers, sandwiches, salads and "bar-food." I ordered the steak salad, which was very good. There were 7 of us eating and we all enjoyed our meals. They have an extensive beer selection-I didn't sample any on this visit. The food was good, the service was good-I think I was preoccupied with trying to comb through everything this place has to offer. Overall, a unique gem tucked into a small unassuming town nestled between Harrisburg and Lancaster. I'd say check it out if you're headed to this region! I plan to go back!

This place was excellent. We ate at The Botteling Works food was great, the Potatoes De Ours at "The things restrauts become famous for" says one person I was dining with. Only complaint was when we went to buy a Pint Glass upon exit it was kinda a chore, they don't live by the exit through the gift shop mentality. But at the same time we did get to see some stuff others don't normally see. All in all, if you are within driving distance of the area, this is a place well worth checking out.

This is one of my favorite places to eat when I go home for a visit. I've had lots of great night at The Bottle Works. Try the Trevors fries and the Ultimate Grilled Cheese

My review is for dining in the catacombs of Bube's. I'd like to give it a half of a star less, but cannot. This is my 4th time dining in the catacombs in 10 years time. The food is "ok", not bad, not exceptional. The catacomb dining experience is fun. Service is great, servers are quick to refill drinks and stop by table to offer help. My dislikes are the prices and cleanliness. Prices for entrees are too much for quality of food. In Lancaster city, 20 mins southeast of Mount Joy, much finer food can be enjoyed with equal quality of service for the same money, or less. Dont tell me we are paying for the "ambiance" of the underground dining, that should have been paid for years ago. Red wine was served in a narrow, stemless glass,...tacky, and cheap. For white wine, that would have been "acceptable". Tables had glass tops over the table cloth,...for an Olive Garden, or Chilis, thats fine, but not for a place that considers itself "fine-dining",...its lousy. The restaurant is filthy; cobwebs throughout, dust is prevelant in, and on fixtures, dead leaves from plants are plentiful around said plants. In the mens lavatory, the toilet tank cover is broken, and now held together with duct-tape. The restaurant needs a thorough cleaning and many small, inexpensive details addressed. The few items listed, make me believe the owner is cheap. I have no desire to go back, and would prob recomend another restaurant to people that ask.

Neat interior when it's not crowded or crazy loud with some awful band. Can't decide if it's a bar or a restaurant. Food is average; they are occasionally out of things.

The atmosphere is nice, however, they management or waitstaff should occasionally think of washing away the bird poo on the patio and tables. It was everywhere. We just moved to a different table and i got paper towels from the bathroom and wiped it down. Maybe the beer is good here but the food is awful. Portions are small for the price, food looked like it had been reheated several times and then left for a final crust under the heat lamps. Service was okay. Hostesses were snippy-I ask twice if this was the right way. She snapped 'Well, yeah' Sorry, it was dark, first time there and I was little disoriented. I have heard about this place for years, i must've missed it in its heyday. Go to Burger King, you'll have a better and cheaper experience.

Two words "Cheese Balls"! Bube's has been a great place to eat, whether it be down in the Catacombs or up in the Bottling Works. Haven't been to Alios' yet though. The Bottling Works strikes me as an archetypical bar that one should see in a post-apocalyptic movie. Great beer and yummy food. I've been to the Catacombs for feasts and for just a nice dinner with my husband. The feasts are great. I've been to the Medieval, Pirate and Halloween feasts. They are not for kids, having much quite authentic sexual innuendo going on. Hilarious though! A word of advice, dress lightly. A bunch of people in the caves makes it WARM! Add the hilarity and alcohol and you'll be wishing for a cool breeze, even if it's in the winter.

decent bar food...the beer they make on premises is very uneven. Some I like, others I really dislike. Neat old building and outdoor seating....Fun place to hang for a late night.
